Reflections from All Energy Australia 2024: Shaping Australia’s Renewable Energy Landscape

28 October 2024

All Energy Australia 2024 has once again set a high standard, both in scale and in the energy and innovation displayed by exhibitors, speakers, and attendees. This year’s conference was one of the largest All Energy events to date. It showcased the growing role of renewable energy, in particular battery storage, in addressing Australia’s needs and strengthening our commitment to sustainability. Our team returned inspired, following two days filled with discussions, demonstrations, and partnerships that showcased the vibrant future of Australia’s renewables industry. So what are our key takeaways?

A Strong Shift Toward Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

A key focus this year was on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), which have evolved from niche solutions to essential components of modern energy strategy. BESS took centre stage in the exhibit hall and packed speaker sessions. This underscores its foundational role in building a sustainable energy future. At Energy Renaissance, we’re excited to support this momentum by delivering BESS solutions that integrate across applications, enhancing resilience and flexibility in the energy grid.

The demand for scalable, flexible BESS solutions signifies a shift. Energy storage is now recognised as a crucial element for cleaner, accessible energy. This trend was emphasised in roundtable discussions, where experts explored the current innovations and future potential of BESS, drawing high engagement and standing-room-only crowds.

Growing Demand for Australian-Made Solutions

There was a clear and growing enthusiasm for Australian-made solutions. This reflects a strong call for more homegrown innovation in renewables. While the exhibition floor was bustling, many exhibitors represented local subsidiaries of international brands, with relatively few Australian-owned manufacturers present.

We were honoured to have our Distribution Sales Manager, Ben Bishop, join the panel session, “A Future Made in Australia.” Here he explored opportunities in domestic manufacturing with other Australian thought leaders. For us, this session highlighted the potential of the Australian industry to lead in renewable technology innovation. The audience’s positive reception and open questions reaffirmed the growing demand for local manufacturing. This groundswell of support emphasises that Australian-made solutions can and should drive the nation’s renewable energy future. Achieving this vision will require not only innovation but also strong policy support and collaboration across the industry. Download the presentation here

Strengthening Our Future with Policy and Collaboration

Another key takeaway was the role of government support in advancing renewable energy. Amid rising cost-of-living pressures, the need for a sustainable energy infrastructure has never been more critical. Government grants and supportive policies are vital for creating an environment where local companies can innovate, scale, and make renewable energy more accessible.

Beyond policy discussions, All-Energy provided invaluable networking opportunities. Engaging with industry peers to share ideas and address the unique challenges of the Australian energy landscape remains a highlight of the event. It united us around a common purpose—to tackle and resolve the pressing energy issues affecting both individuals and businesses.

Looking Ahead

Reflecting on All-Energy Australia 2024, one takeaway is clear: investing in a sustainable energy future isn’t just an ideal—it’s a necessity. Whether through advancing BESS solutions, promoting Australian manufacturing, or collaborating with government initiatives, now is the time for decisive action.

We have returned inspired and ready to continue on this transformative journey, committed to building resilient energy solutions that meet today’s needs while preparing for the demands of tomorrow. We are dedicated to providing innovative, accessible energy solutions made right here in Australia, and as we look toward 2025 and beyond, we’re excited to keep working alongside our partners, clients, and industry leaders to create a sustainable and resilient energy future for all Australians.
