environmental management & sustainability

We are committed to sustainability, not only through our products but through our daily operations as well. Our vision is to incorporate the circular economy into each aspect of our business, eliminating waste while circulating products and materials.

This vision is reflected in our product design, waste management approach, ISO14001 certification and high percentage of Australian components.

Our products are designed with circularity in mind

Unlike many competitors, we don’t weld our battery modules, meaning that products can be quickly and easily pulled apart at end-of-life.

Our strategy is to completely disassemble products at the end-of-life, separating components out for repair and re-use first. If that is not possible, then components will be recycled. Landfill will always be a last resort.

We prioritise resource recovery

In order to recover as much waste as practically possible, we have 8 established waste streams at our manufacturing facility Renaissance One. Each waste stream is collected by a suitable provider who equally values resource recovery as much as we do.

Our 8 established waste streams

Cell recycling

We first engaged Ecobatt as our cell recycler in 2022. They specialise in the safe collection, processing and recycling of battery products, with all battery materials processed at their facility in Campbellfield, Victoria. They break our cells down and separate them into plastics, metals and black sand which are then distributed throughout the supply chain for further processing and re-use.

Inbound soft plastic recycling

We’ve partnered with RecycleSmart, an innovative Australian start-up that collects hard-to-recycle items and connects them with recycling partners around the country. All of our soft plastic waste is collected from site and processed into feedstock oil before being turned into food-grade plastics again. On average, we prevent about 2 wheelie bins worth of soft plastic from going to landfill each month.

Reduced outbound soft plastic consumption

In addition to recycling inbound plastics, we are also reducing our outbound soft plastic consumption where possible. Our first success in this process has been swapping our standard plastic pallet wrap for compostable pallet wrap from Great Wrap  the only Australian-made compostable stretch wrap made with compostable biopolymers and plant-based oils.

Dry waste and timber recycling

Recycle Central are a leader in waste collection, resource recovery and recycling in the local area. They collect our mixed waste and sort it at their facility, connecting it with other local recycling partners where required, to ensure maximum possible resource recovery.

Can & bottle recycling

We recycle all eligible containers through the return & earn scheme and donate all earnings to charity, the most recent earnings were donated to Little Wings, a charity that helps seriously ill country kids access life-saving treatments in the city.

Inbound cell foam recycling

We approached local removalist company, Port Stephens Removals & Storage to ask if they would have a use for our inbound cell packing foam material that we would otherwise have to send to landfill. We are so happy they took us up on our offer and now collect foam from us regularly to protect delicate items such as TV’s during removalist operations.

We are 100% committed to supporting Australian suppliers

The vast majority of our product parts are sourced locally, with our goal to reach 100% Australian-made components. This not only ensures supply chain security, it keeps logistics emissions to a minimum while supporting local industry.
